Summit Real Estate Celebrates 20 Years of Summit Property Weekly Success

Nelson's leading real estate firm marks two decades of their popular property publication, now reaching 39,000 readers across the region

For two decades, Summit Real Estate has been making it easier for Nelsonians to find their dream home through their flagship publication, the Summit Property Weekly. The locally owned real estate firm celebrates this significant milestone this week, highlighting how the popularity of Summit Weekly continues to grow year after year.

Summit Weekly by the Numbers

39,000 copies distributed weekly across the Nelson/Tasman region20 years of continuous publication since Spring 2004Nearly 4x growth in reach since moving to multiple publications in 2016Available in print and online formats, including Marlborough Weekly version

"The launch of the Summit Weekly in Spring 2004 became a very integral part of maintaining Summit as the most preferred real estate agency by far. From the growth of web based marketing that Summit maintains through Summit.co.nz, realestate.co.nz, One Roof and Trade Me, thousands of prospective buyers find their new home via the Summit Weekly. The buyer reach is unparalleled with the distribution growth to 39,000 throughout the region and also read online."
— Allister Nalder, Founder and Managing Director, Summit Real Estate

The publication has undergone significant evolution since its inception. Summit Weekly first appeared inside the Nelson Mail each week but in 2016 made a strategic move to be distributed inside the Nelson Weekly, Waimea Weekly and Motueka Golden Bay Guardian, almost quadrupling its reach to just under 40,000 copies each week.

This expansion has proven to be a game-changer for the company's marketing reach and effectiveness in connecting properties with potential buyers across the greater Nelson region.

"The Summit Weekly sets us apart by showcasing our clients' properties to a wider audience of buyers, which is why we continue to rely on this valuable marketing tool."
— David Turnhout, Operations Manager, Summit Real Estate

Operations manager David Turnhout emphasises that Summit Weekly represents a huge point of difference in the competitive local real estate market, effectively getting their properties in front of more buyers than traditional marketing methods alone.

The success of Summit Weekly reflects the company's commitment to both traditional print media and digital marketing strategies, maintaining a strong presence across multiple platforms while serving the local Nelson community's property needs.

Nelson Golf Community Raises Nearly $60K for Local Hospice

Keir Wilkinson Memorial Tournament

The Nelson Tasman region's golfing community delivered an outstanding display of generosity last Friday, with the third annual Keir Wilkinson Memorial Golf Tournament raising an incredible $59,287.50 for Nelson Tasman Hospice.

Thirty-six teams teed off at Nelson Golf Club on September 13th for what has become one of the region's most anticipated charity golf events. The day combined friendly competition across the club's pristine fairways with an exciting post-tournament auction, creating an atmosphere of community spirit that perfectly honours Keir Wilkinson's memory.

Since launching in 2022, this heartfelt tournament has now raised over $160,000 for the local hospice – funding that directly supports specialised palliative care, emotional support, and dignity for Nelson Tasman families during life's most challenging moments. Every dollar raised stays local, benefiting our community when it's needed most.

The tournament's success reflects Nelson's remarkable community spirit. Local businesses and residents donated auction items and experiences, while golfers embraced both the competition and the cause. What started as a memorial has evolved into a cornerstone fundraising event that strengthens our region's care network.

Summit is proud to support initiatives like the Keir Wilkinson Memorial Tournament that make a real difference in our community. Nelson Tasman Hospice's compassionate end-of-life care, family support, and bereavement services represent exactly the kind of local impact we're honoured to champion.

Planning is already underway for next year's tournament, with multiple ways for the community to get involved. Golfers can watch for registration opening in mid-2025, while businesses can explore sponsorship opportunities ranging from hole sponsorships to auction donations. Community members are always welcome as volunteers or auction attendees.

The Keir Wilkinson Memorial Tournament exemplifies what makes Nelson special – neighbours supporting neighbours, businesses investing in community wellbeing, and everyone working together for causes that truly matter. It's a perfect balance of remembrance and celebration that brings out the best in our region.

A huge thanks to all the teams, sponsors, and participants who made this year's record-breaking success possible. Together, we're building a stronger, more caring community where everyone can access the support they need.
