Summit Weekly Environmental Information
Wednesday 8 May 2019
As we in Summit Real Estate value the beautiful area in which we work, live and play in it is essential that we are whole-heartedly committed to protecting the environment for future generations to enjoy this beautiful region. It was something to be considered when Summit decided to deliver our highly sought-after magazine to 97% of all households in the Nelson/Tasman region each week.
The printed pages used for our Summit Weekly come from sustainable wood supplies, are recyclable and are buffed and coated to achieve a glossy appearance. The pages are covered with white clay; therefore, our colour photography looks more brilliant. The shiny appearance does not contaminate the paper at all.
Some consumers think glossy paper can’t be recycled. That may have been true in the early days of recycling, but no longer. With today’s recycling technology, nearly all community recycling programs accept glossy magazines for recycling. Recycled magazines are used to make newspaper, tissues, writing paper and paperboard.
The mill the paper comes from also has FSC forest management certification which confirms the forest is being managed in a way that preserves the natural ecosystem and benefits the lives of local people and workers, all while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
Certification is achieved by passing an assessment carried out by an FSC-accredited certification body, with forest management conformity assessed against the FSC Principles and Criteria.
So next time you are browsing through our magazine rest assured there is no added pressure being put on our beautiful piece of paradise. Relax, read, and recycle.
